It’s October. Remember to support indigenous people these last 3 months of the year.
I’ve never heard about Halloween being an issue aside from offensive costumes, is that the only problem with it, or are there other issues I should be aware of?
That would be it. It’s exhausting, when you live with it Year after Year after Year for your entire life.
I imagine it’s also the uptick in cryptid content that often features beings that belong to Native traditions, religions and practices as well as Native spiritualities being more heavily commodified/appropriated around the time of the year when the veil is thin’..which was a Victoria’s spiritualist invention but now people tend to believe it, and then treat this season like it’s open season for /spooky/ (read: not Christian) spiritual paths and traditions.
(Please let me know if I’m off on any of this. I’m just adding my thoughts of what I imagine would also add to the stress of this season.)
