Suddenly obsessed with the idea that tattoos last a maximum of like three days on tog because their bodies push out the ink and regenerate the skin like it’s an injury. Joe having a whole collection of tattoo needles and inks. He has a modern kit, but he also has ancient tattooing tools from all over the world. When they’re between jobs he tattoos Nicky extensively. Full sleeves, chest, back. Nicky can sit still for hours and hours. Joe calls him his favorite canvas, and he never gives him the same tattoo twice. Nicky usually tells Joe he can tattoo whatever he wants, but sometimes he’ll see a piece of art or a pattern he likes and he points it out to Joe. Joe freehands all his tattoos and they are stunning because he’s been tattooing for at least 500 years.

The first time Nile finds this out she walks in on Joe halfway through Nicky’s sleeve. Nicky is just casually reading a book, totally unbothered. And she’s like wait we can do what. Which leads to tog getting trashy/awful tattoos whenever the opportunity presents itself.
